Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 28, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Cori (“Cori,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Cori mobile application (the “App”), this website (including our VIP early-access waitlist), and related services (together, the “Services”).
Cori is designed for children Ages 3–8, with parents or guardians as the primary account holders and decision-makers. We take children’s privacy seriously and aim to comply with applicable laws such as the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”) in the United States and similar rules where we operate.
1. Who this policy covers
- Parents / guardians who download Cori, manage age settings, or join our VIP waitlist.
- Children who use Cori to practice speaking English with our voice companion.
- Website visitors who browse this marketing or waitlist site.
2. Information we collect
What we collect depends on how you use the Services. Categories may include:
- Parent contact information — name, email address, phone number, and optional city when you reserve VIP early access or contact support.
- Child profile details you provide — child’s first name, age band (for example ages 3–5 or 6–8), and optional notes you share so we can personalize onboarding. We do not require a child’s full name, photo, or precise location for core App use.
- Voice and speech data — microphone audio while a lesson is active so Cori can listen, transcribe, respond, and coach. Audio may be processed on-device and/or by trusted cloud providers we use to power speech recognition, language coaching, and text-to-speech.
- Learning progress — lesson progress, vocabulary practice signals, streaks, stars, coins, and similar in-app activity stored to make the experience work (often on-device).
- Device & technical data — device type, OS version, app version, crash logs, and basic diagnostics needed to run and improve the Services.
- Support communications — messages you send us by email or other channels.
We do not sell children’s personal information. We do not use children’s data for third-party advertising.
3. How we use information
- Provide voice lessons and the Cori companion experience.
- Personalize difficulty and coaching by age band.
- Operate the VIP waitlist and send invite or product updates you opted into.
- Respond to support and privacy requests.
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, and fix bugs.
- Comply with law and enforce our Terms.
4. How we share information
We may share information with:
- Service providers that process data on our behalf (for example cloud hosting, speech-to-text, large language models, or text-to-speech vendors). They are allowed to use the data only to provide services to us under appropriate agreements.
- Professional advisors or authorities when required by law or to protect safety and rights.
- A buyer or successor if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, subject to this Policy’s protections.
We do not share personal information with third parties for their own marketing.
5. Children’s privacy (COPPA and similar laws)
- Cori is intended for use by children with parent or guardian involvement.
- We collect only the information reasonably needed to provide the educational voice experience and parental features.
- Parents may review, correct, or request deletion of their child’s personal information by contacting us using the details below or via our Privacy Choices page.
- If we later add account creation that stores child personal information on our servers, we will obtain verifiable parental consent where required before collecting that information beyond what the law allows.
6. Microphone permission
The App requests microphone access so your child can practice speaking with Cori. You can revoke microphone permission in device Settings at any time. Without the microphone, voice lessons will not work.
7. Data retention
We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes above, including VIP waitlist management, support history, legal obligations, and security. On-device learning progress remains on the device until the App is deleted or data is cleared. When you ask us to delete personal information, we will do so within a reasonable time unless we must retain it by law.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International users
If you use the Services from outside the country where we operate, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our providers run. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
10. Your privacy choices
You can request access, correction, or deletion of personal information we hold, opt out of VIP marketing texts/emails (where applicable), and learn more on our Privacy Choices page.
11. Third-party services
The App may rely on third-party infrastructure for AI voice features. Those providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies when they act as independent controllers; when they act as our processors, they follow our instructions.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and change the “Last updated” date. For material changes that affect children’s data practices, we will take additional steps as required by law.
