Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Cori mobile application, this website, and our VIP early-access program (the “Services”) operated by Cori (“Cori,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By downloading the App, joining the waitlist, or using the Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.

1. Who may use Cori

  • Cori is designed for children Ages 3–8. A parent or legal guardian must supervise use and accept these Terms on the child’s behalf.
  • You represent that you are the parent/guardian (or an adult authorized by them) when you submit waitlist information about a child.

2. The Services

Cori is a voice-first English practice companion. Features may include spoken lessons, progress tracking, rewards, customization, and a parents area. Features may change during early beta. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service.

3. VIP early access / waitlist

  • Reserving VIP access does not guarantee admission, a launch date, or specific pricing.
  • We may invite families in waves and limit seats. Providing false information may result in removal from the list.
  • If you opt into SMS or email, you agree we may contact you about your invite and product updates. You can opt out anytime.

4. License and acceptable use

We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for its intended educational purpose. You agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer, scrape, or misuse the Services
  • Attempt to access systems or data without authorization
  • Harass others or upload harmful content
  • Use the Services for any unlawful purpose

5. Voice features and microphone

Voice lessons require microphone permission. Audio may be processed to provide transcription, coaching replies, and spoken responses. See our Privacy Policy for details.

6. Purchases and subscriptions

If we offer paid features or subscriptions through the Apple App Store, purchases are processed by Apple and subject to Apple’s terms. Manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID settings. Refunds are handled according to Apple’s policies unless we state otherwise.

7. Intellectual property

The Cori name, character, lessons, artwork, software, and related content are owned by us or our licensors. These Terms do not transfer ownership to you.

8. Disclaimers

THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. Cori supports language practice and is not a substitute for school, licensed tutoring, or professional educational diagnoses.

9. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CORI AND ITS TEAM WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICES WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICES IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) USD $50.

10. Indemnity

You agree to defend and indemnify us against claims arising from your misuse of the Services or violation of these Terms, except to the extent caused by our willful misconduct.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Services at any time. We may suspend or end access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Services. On termination, the license ends; sections that by nature should survive will survive.

12. App Store terms

If you download Cori from the Apple App Store, you acknowledge that Apple is not responsible for the App or its content, maintenance, or support to the extent permitted by law. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms solely regarding Apple’s rights as the app distributor. Support is provided by Cori — see Support.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms by posting a new version on this page. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms, except where additional consent is required by law.
